Garden State GreenFest
Garden State GreenFest started with the idea that we could produce an event that could help save the planet “one person at a time”. We brought it to our client, The Star-Ledger. Because they had developed relationships with their advertisers and knew what their goals were, a sales rep was able to say that he knew of a company that was looking for a way to significantly increase the visibility of their green initiatives and improve their engagement with the community.
That company was PSEG and they became the title sponsor in a perfect marriage of event and goals. The branding campaign was wildly successful as was Garden State GreenFest. Over seven years, hundreds of exhibitors were showcased and thousands of green minded attendees were treated to speakers like Robert Kennedy, Jr., Ted Danson, Ed Begley, Jr., Jeff Corwin, Deirdre Imus, Dr. Sylvia Earle, Bill Nye “The Science Guy” and Darryl Hannah. With the generous support of corporate sponsors like Prudential, Shop Rite, Planet Honda and Comcast, dozens of schools and thousands of pre-k through high school students attended GECKO Friday Field Trips where they participated in innovative, hands on workshops.
Garden State GreenFest was more than just a financial success for the Star-Ledger. They further elevated their relationship with a top advertiser and strengthened relationships with others. For many exhibitors in the green sector this was their first interaction with the newspaper and it proved a positive one. Finally, the newspaper fulfilled its mission of being of service to its community and enhanced those bonds.
